Family Things to Do in Sacramento: Less Negotiating. More Playing.

Family Things to Do in Sacramento: Less Negotiating. More Playing.

Finding something to do is easy. Finding something everyone actually wants to do is the hard part.

One person wants an activity. Someone else wants lunch. Nobody wants another afternoon spent deciding. If you are looking for family things to do in Sacramento, here is a plan with a little more give: indoor golf, good food and time together at Birdies in West Sacramento.

You do not need a family of golfers. You need a few people willing to try a shot, laugh at the result and let the next person have a go.

Give them something to talk about on the way home.

A surprisingly good shot. A spectacularly bad one. The moment someone who has never played decides they need another turn. Shared activities give a family outing a little momentum; suddenly you are doing something together instead of just being in the same place.

At Birdies, you hit a real golf ball into a simulator screen and see the result in the virtual game. The screen becomes part of the activity, rather than something everyone watches separately on their phone.

Let the beginners be beginners.

The first visit does not need to be an 18-hole project. Start simply. Take turns. Let the first few shots be practice. Birdies has five Trackman bays, easy-to-learn games and clubs included, so newcomers can arrive curious rather than equipped.

When booking for younger children, ask our team about equipment fit and suitability. During play, give the person swinging plenty of room and follow the team’s guidance. The goal is a visit that works for the family you are bringing.

One bay. A whole family’s worth of turns.

Golf is priced by the bay, by the hour. A standard bay is $60 per hour for up to eight people. A VIP bay is $80 per hour for up to 14. That makes the golf cost straightforward to plan before you arrive.

For a family of four sharing a standard bay for an hour, that is $60 for the bay—the equivalent of $15 each before food, drinks and any additional applicable charges. Capacity is the size of the group the bay holds; everyone takes turns hitting.

The activity is only half the plan.

Leave time to eat. Birdies has a full restaurant in the same venue as the golf bays, so the meal does not need its own destination. Browse the current menus together and give everyone something else to look forward to.

Tell our team about allergies, dietary needs or questions about children’s options before ordering. You can also ask whether eating during your bay time or sitting down separately makes more sense for your visit.

Make a plan. Leave room for a rematch.

Choose your date, check current hours and What’s On, then reserve a bay that fits your group. Birdies is at 805 Riverfront Street in West Sacramento, across from Sutter Health Park.

A family outing does not have to be a grand production. Sometimes it is one new thing, a good meal and a reason to put the phones down. The score can wait. Someone is going to want another turn.
