You do not need a handicap, a perfect swing or a group of golfers to enjoy indoor golf. At Birdies Social Club in West Sacramento, you book a bay, hit a real golf ball into an impact screen, and watch your shot continue across a virtual course. Your group takes turns, with food, drinks and time to catch up between shots.
Birdies combines five Trackman-powered golf bays with a full restaurant and bar at 805 Riverfront Street, across from Sutter Health Park. Here is what to know before your first visit.
What is indoor golf, exactly?
You swing a real club and strike a real ball from a hitting area. A launch monitor captures information about the shot, and simulator software uses that information to calculate its flight and show the result on screen. You can play virtual courses, practice or choose golf games. The physical shot is yours; the course beyond the screen is simulated.
At Birdies, Trackman iO supplies the shot-tracking technology. If you are curious about the mechanics, read what happens between hitting the ball and seeing your shot on screen.

Choose a bay for your group
- Standard bay: $60 per hour, up to eight people.
- VIP bay: $80 per hour, up to 14 people.
Those are hourly bay prices, rather than a separate golf charge for every guest. For example, four people sharing a standard bay for one hour split a $60 bay charge into $15 each. Food and drinks are additional. Check the booking page for availability and the final checkout total.
Capacity describes how many people the bay accommodates, not how many can swing at once. Players take turns. A smaller group gives each person more time to hit; a larger group makes the session more of a social gathering. Tell us what kind of visit you have in mind if you need help choosing.
Choose the experience first: smaller groups mean more turns; larger groups make it a social night.
You can start with a game instead of a full round
For a first visit, there is no need to make finishing 18 holes the goal. A few warm-up shots and a simple game give everyone a chance to get comfortable. Choose an activity that suits the least experienced player, then change the challenge as the group settles in.
If your friends already play golf, virtual course play gives them a familiar format. If they do not, the screen makes the result easy to follow. You can participate without knowing every rule of outdoor golf.

What should you bring?
Bring your own clubs if you have them. Birdies also has house clubs for guests who are getting started. Wear something that lets you move comfortably. Keep everyone clear of the hitting area when someone is swinging, and ask the team for help before changing anything you are unsure about.
Food and drinks are part of the visit
You can order from the restaurant and bar while spending time in your bay. That makes it easy to combine golf with dinner, a birthday or an evening with friends. Browse the current Birdies menu before you come rather than trying to fit a second stop into the night.

How much time should you book?
Start with the size of your group and what you want to do. An introductory session and a social game are different from completing a course. More players means more turns between your shots, so avoid assuming that a full round will fit into an hour. Ask us for guidance if finishing a particular format matters to you.
First-timer tip: start with warm-up shots and a simple game. You do not need to finish 18 holes.
